DESCRIPTION: Join Our Advocacy Power Half Hour!\nWednesday, February 5th, 12:00 - 12:30 PM\n \nYou will receive an autoresponder with the Zoom link shortly after registering.\n\n\n\n\nAdvocacy Power Half Hours are an opportunity for you to learn about what's going on in the Washington State Legislature and raise our voices together to speak up for housing, safety, and justice for people experiencing homelessness in Washington State. These meetings are open to everyone, whether you're a seasoned advocate, or you've never raised your voice before. Expect to hear a short update on what bills and budget items need our advocacy to move them forward, and to take action by sending an email or making a phone call to your state lawmakers.\nEach Power Half Hour will be different because things change quickly during the legislative session. Please join any and all! Additional Power Half Hours will take place on Wednesday March 5th, and April 2nd from 12:00-12:30 PM. \n\nSome of our priorities for the Washington State Legislature this year include:\n\nProtect tenants from unreasonable rent increases\nEnd the “lifetime limit” on TANF benefits for low-income families \nProvide guidance for local governments so that they can site affordable homes and shelter in their jurisdictions; and build more affordable homes as required by the Growth Management Act \nCorrect King County’s arbitrary 1% property tax limit to pay for critical public services \nAdd new progressive revenue to support the Housing Trust Fund\nBudget $253 million to prevent cuts to homeless shelters funded by Document Recording Fees\n\nPower Half Hours are offered on Zoom and registration is required. You will receive a confirmation email with the access information to join the meeting.
